Location; Kolbnitz, Reisseck, Austria

Kolbnitz is a fairly large village in National Park Hohe Tauern. and is one of a few villages that make up the area of Reisseck. It is situated in the county of Carinthia, called Kaernten locally, in south west Austria. Carinthia borders with both Italy and Slovenia and is famed for it's hospitality.

In the pitturesque village there are many amenities, including a railway station, bank, supermarket, swimming pool, rafting centre and a horse riding centre.

Kolbnitz is known for it's mountain railways, funiculars that leave the village for the walking trails of the surrounding peaks of Reisseck and Kreuzek, this has earnt it the title the 'Heart of Carinthia'.

Just outside Kolbnitz is the Rotau reservoir great for walks and fishing,  20 minutes to the west are the ski and snowboard centres of Ankogel and Moelltaler Glacier, while 20 minutes in the opposite direction is the largest lake in Austria, Millstattersee, perfect for swimming, sailing and walks.

Chalet Kolbnitz is situated on the sunny side of the valley near the Reisseck mountain railway and has a great position looking across the valley towards the river Moell.
